Itinerary
Pick-up from your Athens accommodation or the airport
Your private driver will meet you at your Athens accommodation to begin a day of discovery through Attica’s historic and scenic highlights.
Marathon
Start with a 60-minute drive north to Marathon via the national highway. Along the way, enjoy a short stop for photos at the dam and peaceful Lake Marathon, a vital source of water for Athens. Then continue to the famous Marathon Tumulus and archaeological museum, where you’ll spend about 90 minutes. Don’t miss the opportunity to stand at the starting line of the original Marathon Race—an essential photo opportunity!
Vravrona
Next, journey south for approximately 45 minutes along a coastal route through charming seaside towns to reach the ancient sanctuary of Artemis in Vravrona. Here, you’ll explore both the temple ruins and the museum during a 60-minute visit that offers insight into the religious life of ancient Attica.
Cape Sounio
From Vravrona, continue another 40 minutes to the southernmost tip of Attica—Cape Sounio. Visit the iconic Temple of Poseidon, dramatically perched on a cliff above the Aegean Sea. Your visit lasts around 45 minutes. Depending on your preference, enjoy a relaxing seaside lunch (about 75 minutes) either before or after your time at the temple. Your driver will recommend a scenic taverna with authentic Greek cuisine.
End your tour with a scenic return drive to Athens along the stunning Attica Riviera. Pass through the coastal suburbs of Lavrio, Varkiza, Vouliagmeni (with a brief photo stop at Lake Vouliagmeni), and Glyfada before arriving back at your accommodation.
