Itinerary

Pick-up from your Athens accommodation  (approx. 07:00)
Your private driver will meet you early in the morning to begin your journey through some of the most important battlefields of ancient Greece.

Marathon Battlefield & Tumulus (approx. 45 minutes)
Begin your tour with a visit to Marathon, located just 45 minutes northeast of Athens.
Explore the burial mound honoring the 192 Athenian soldiers who fell in the Battle of Marathon in 490 BC — a defining moment in Western history that inspired the modern marathon race.

Drive to Thermopylae (approx. 2 hours)
Continue north through the Greek mainland, enjoying a scenic drive toward one of the most iconic battle sites in history.

Thermopylae – The Gates of Fire (approx. 60 minutes)
Visit the legendary battlefield where King Leonidas and his 300 Spartans made their heroic stand against the Persian army.

Highlights include:

  • The statue of Leonidas
  • Kolonos Hill, site of the final stand
  • The Thermopylae Memorial and interpretive center (optional, if open)

Although the landscape has changed over time, the strategic importance of this narrow pass remains evident.

Drive to Plataea

Continue your journey south toward the region of Boeotia.

Plataea – The Final Victory (approx. 45 minutes)
Visit the historic battlefield where, in 479 BC, the Greek city-states achieved their final victory over the Persian forces, securing their independence.

Today, the peaceful countryside contrasts with the significance of the events that took place here.
